Surah Az Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold)

43.61

surah 43 - verse 61

translator's name verse
Arberry It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me. This is a straight path.
Maududi Verily he [i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way.
Pickthall And lo! verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path.
Sahih And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
Yusuf Ali And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.

43.62

surah 43 - verse 62

Arberry Let not Satan bar you; he is for you a manifest foe.
Maududi Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy.
Pickthall And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you.
Sahih And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
Yusuf Ali Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed.

43.63

surah 43 - verse 63

Arberry And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me.
Maududi When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me.
Pickthall When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me.
Sahih And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me.
Yusuf Ali When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me.

43.64

surah 43 - verse 64

Arberry Assuredly God is my Lord and your Lord; therefore serve Him; this is a straight path.'
Maududi Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.”
Pickthall Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path.
Sahih Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
Yusuf Ali "For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way."

43.65

surah 43 - verse 65

Arberry But the parties among them fell into variance; so woe unto those who did evil, because of the chastisement of a painful day.
Maududi Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day.
Pickthall But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day.
Sahih But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
Yusuf Ali But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day!

43.66

surah 43 - verse 66

Arberry Are they looking for aught but the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they are not aware?
Maududi Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it?
Pickthall Await they aught save the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they know not?
Sahih Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
Yusuf Ali Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not?

43.67

surah 43 - verse 67

Arberry Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing.
Maududi On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing.
Pickthall Friends on that day will be foes one to another, save those who kept their duty (to Allah).
Sahih Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
Yusuf Ali Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous.

43.68

surah 43 - verse 68

Arberry 'O My servants, today no fear is on you, neither do you sorrow' --
Maududi (It will be said to them): “My servants, today you have nothing to fear or regret,
Pickthall O My slaves! For you there is no fear this day, nor is it ye who grieve;
Sahih [To whom Allah will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,
Yusuf Ali My devotees! no fear shall be on you that Day, nor shall ye grieve,-

43.69

surah 43 - verse 69

Arberry even those who believed in Our signs, and had surrendered themselves
Maududi you who believed in Our Signs and had surrendered yourselves (to Us)!
Pickthall (Ye) who believed Our revelations and were self-surrendered,
Sahih [You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
Yusuf Ali (Being) those who have believed in Our Signs and bowed (their wills to Ours) in Islam.

43.70

surah 43 - verse 70

Arberry 'Enter Paradise, you and your wives, walking with joy!'
Maududi Enter Paradise joyfully, both you and your spouses.”
Pickthall Enter the Garden, ye and your wives, to be made glad.
Sahih Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
Yusuf Ali Enter ye the Garden, ye and your wives, in (beauty and) rejoicing.

43.71

surah 43 - verse 71

Arberry There shall be passed around them platters of gold, and cups, therein being whatever the souls desire, and the eyes delight in. 'And therein, you shall dwell forever.
Maududi Platters and cups of gold shall be passed around them, and there shall be all that they might desire and all that their eyes might delight in. (They shall be told): “Herein shall you abide for ever.
Pickthall Therein are brought round for them trays of gold and goblets, and therein is all that souls desire and eyes find sweet. And ye are immortal therein.
Sahih Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
Yusuf Ali To them will be passed round, dishes and goblets of gold: there will be there all that the souls could desire, all that their eyes could delight in: and ye shall abide therein (for eye).

43.72

surah 43 - verse 72

Arberry This is the Paradise that you have been given for an inheritance for the things that you were doing.
Maududi Such is the Paradise that you shall inherit by virtue of your good deeds in the life of the world.
Pickthall This is the Garden which ye are made to inherit because of what ye used to do.
Sahih And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
Yusuf Ali Such will be the Garden of which ye are made heirs for your (good) deeds (in life).

43.73

surah 43 - verse 73

Arberry Therein you have abundant fruits, whereof you may eat.'
Maududi Herein you will have abundant fruits of which you will eat.”
Pickthall Therein for you is fruit in plenty whence to eat.
Sahih For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
Yusuf Ali Ye shall have therein abundance of fruit, from which ye shall have satisfaction.

43.74

surah 43 - verse 74

Arberry But the evildoers dwell forever in the chastisement of Gehenna
Maududi But the evil-doers shall abide in the torment of Hell.
Pickthall Lo! the guilty are immortal in hell's torment.
Sahih Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
Yusuf Ali The sinners will be in the Punishment of Hell, to dwell therein (for aye):

43.75

surah 43 - verse 75

Arberry that is not abated for them and therein they are sore confounded.
Maududi Never will their torment be lightened for them. They shall remain in utter despair.
Pickthall It is not relaxed for them, and they despair therein.
Sahih It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
Yusuf Ali Nowise will the (Punishment) be lightened for them, and in despair will they be there overwhelmed.

43.76

surah 43 - verse 76

Arberry We never wronged them, but they themselves did the wrong.
Maududi It is not We Who wronged them; rather, it is they who wronged themselves.
Pickthall We wronged them not, but they it was who did the wrong.
Sahih And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
Yusuf Ali Nowise shall We be unjust to them: but it is they who have been unjust themselves.

43.77

surah 43 - verse 77

Arberry And they shall call, 'O
Maududi They shall call out: “O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us.” He will reply: “You must stay on in it.
Pickthall And they cry: O master! Let thy Lord make an end of us. He saith: Lo! here ye must remain.
Sahih And they will call, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
Yusuf Ali They will cry: "O Malik! would that thy Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Nay, but ye shall abide!"

43.78

surah 43 - verse 78

Arberry 'We brought you the truth, but most of you were averse to the truth.'
Maududi We brought you the Truth; but to the truth most of you were averse.”
Pickthall We verily brought the Truth unto you, but ye were, most of you, averse to the Truth.
Sahih We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
Yusuf Ali Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth.

43.79

surah 43 - verse 79

Arberry Or have they contrived some matter? We too are contriving.
Maududi Have they contrived some scheme? If so, We too will contrive a scheme.
Pickthall Or do they determine any thing (against the Prophet)? Lo! We (also) are determining.
Sahih Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
Yusuf Ali What! have they settled some plan (among themselves)? But it is We Who settle things.

43.80

surah 43 - verse 80

Arberry Or do they think We hear not their secret and what they conspire together? Yes indeed, and Our messengers are present with them writing it down.
Maududi Or do they think that We do not hear their secret talks and their whispering counsels? Yes, indeed We do and Our messengers [i.e., angels) are with them, writing.
Pickthall Or deem they that We cannot hear their secret thoughts and private confidences? Nay, but Our envoys, present with them, do record.
Sahih Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording.
Yusuf Ali Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record.
