Pickthall This day We seal up their mouths, and their hands speak out to Us and their feet bear witness as to what they used to earn.
Sahih That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

36.66

surah 36 - verse 66

translator's name verse
Arberry Did We will, We would have obliterated their eyes, then they would race to the path, but how would they see?
Maududi If We so willed, We would have put out their eyes, then they would rush to see the Way, but how would they be able to see?
Pickthall And had We willed, We verily could have quenched their eyesight so that they should struggle for the way. Then how could they have seen?
Sahih And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the path, and how could they see?
Yusuf Ali If it had been our Will, We could surely have blotted out their eyes; then should they have run about groping for the Path, but how could they have seen?

36.67

surah 36 - verse 67

Pickthall And had We willed, We verily could have fixed them in their place, making them powerless to go forward or turn back.
Sahih And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

Maududi Whomsoever We grant a long life, We reverse him in his constitution. Do they still not understand?
Pickthall He whom we bring unto old age, We reverse him in creation (making him go back to weakness after strength). Have ye then no sense?
Sahih And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation; so will they not understand?
Yusuf Ali If We grant long life to any, We cause him to be reversed in nature: Will they not then understand?

36.69

surah 36 - verse 69

translator's name verse
Arberry We have not taught him poetry; it is not seemly for him. It is only a Remembrance and a Clear Koran,
Maududi We did not teach him (to wit, the Messenger) poetry and it does not behove him. This is none but an Admonition, and a Clear Book
Pickthall And We have not taught him (Muhammad) poetry, nor is it meet for him. This is naught else than a Reminder and a Lecture making plain,
Sahih And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur'an
Yusuf Ali We have not instructed the (Prophet) in Poetry, nor is it meet for him: this is no less than a Message and a Qur'an making things clear:

Pickthall Have they not seen how We have created for them of Our handiwork the cattle, so that they are their owners,
Sahih Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made, grazing livestock, and [then] they are their owners?

Arberry We have subdued them to them, and some of them they ride, and some they eat;
Maududi We have subjected the cattle to them so that some of them they ride and eat the flesh of others.

Pickthall Benefits and (divers) drinks have they from them. Will they not then give thanks?
Sahih And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?
Yusuf Ali And they have (other) profits from them (besides), and they get (milk) to drink. Will they not then be grateful?

Sahih But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

36.75

surah 36 - verse 75

Arberry They cannot help them, though they be hosts made ready for them.

Sahih They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.

Pickthall So let not their speech grieve thee (O Muhammad). Lo! We know what they conceal and what proclaim.
Sahih So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.

Pickthall Hath not man seen that We have created him from a drop of seed? Yet lo! he is an open opponent.
Sahih Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?

Pickthall And he hath coined for Us a similitude, and hath forgotten the fact of his creation, saying: Who will revive these bones when they have rotted away?
Sahih And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"
