37.141
surah 37 - verse 141

| Arberry | and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, |
| Maududi | cast lots, and was among the losers. |
| Pickthall | And then drew lots and was of those rejected; |
| Sahih | And he drew lots and was among the losers. |
| Yusuf Ali | He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: |

| Maududi | Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. |

| Yusuf Ali | Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. |

| Yusuf Ali | And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. |

| Maududi | So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? |
| Pickthall | Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? |
| Sahih | So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? |
| Yusuf Ali | Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- |

| Arberry | They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. |
| Maududi | They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). |
| Pickthall | And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). |
| Sahih | And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. |
| Yusuf Ali | And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! |

| Maududi | (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, |

| Yusuf Ali | Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! |

surah 37 - verse 160
